There are various types of saying about the name Barisal. This district was famous for fish and salt. In 1757 when The British took the charge, they controlled the salt business here. There was a large salt factory was known as Borisalt to British people. By the rotation of time Borisalt turned into Barisal.

Laxmipur is named after Laxminarayan, a family member of Raja Gouro Kishor Ray Chowdhury.

Nawab & his stuffs are used to come here for hunting. And Nawab used to come regular to this Place thats why this place is called for Nawabgonj. There was Moheshpur village far away 10 t0 12 km from nawabgonj and there lived a beauty queen dancer CHAMPABOTI. Chapia name is come from Chmapaboti. And she became favorite to Nawabs for dancing. Madaripur - মাদারীপুর	1984 - ১৯৮৪	Rajoir, Madaripur Sadar, Kalkini, Shibchar	Madaripur is situated beside the river Padma, Arial Kha and Kumar. The name of the district Madaripur comes from the name of saint Hazrat Badar Uddin Shah Madar (R) Who came from India in Fifteenth Century.

By the rotation of time the member of Gazi family ruled in this area around 500 years. People loved their tradition and for the memorial of them this place named as Gazipur.

The source of the name Kishorganj proposed by literal people is that recently destroyed family bottris pramaniks member Krisno Das Pramaniks 6th son Nando Kishors Kishor and his established ganjs Ganj brought the combined result of Kishorganj.
Jamalpur - জামালপুর	1984 - ১৯৮৪	Baksiganj Dewanganj Islampur Jamalpur Sadar Madarganj Melandaha Sarishabari	Jamalpur is the name of a famous ancient locality. A religious preacher Hazrat Shah Jamal (R) came here to preach religion. By the period of time the name of the district established from his name.
Sherpur – শেরপুর	1984 - ১৯৮৪	Jhenaigati Nakla Nalitabari Sherpur Sadar Sreebardi	Sherpur is bounded by the rivers of Bramhaputra, Vogai, Chellakhali, Malighimrigi and Somessori.The history of the district Sherpur is very old.Sher Ali Gazi was the last jamidar of Gazi family. The name of the district Sherpur comes from the name of Sher Ali Gazi.

Munshiganj - মুন্সীগঞ্জ	1984 - ১৯৮৪	Gazaria, Lohajang, Munshiganj Sadar, Sirajdikhan, Sreenagar, Tongibari	Munsiganj district is surrounded by the rivers. Padma and Meghna river flowing over the south side of this district and Dholessory flowing over the north side. The previous name of this district was Idrakpur. By the rotation of time Idrakpur turned into Munsiganj.
Narsingdi – নরসিংদী	1984 - ১৯৮৪	Narsingdi Sadar, Belabo, Monohardi, Palash, Raipura, Shibpur	Narsingdi word comes from the name of Narsingho who was the son of King Dhanpadsingho. From the man speech we know that king Dhanpadsingho ruled a porgona which was situated in the north-west side of Sonargaon. His son Narsingho settled a town which was 3 km away from the river Sitolohkkha. By the rotation of time that place is known us as Narsingdi.

But there is different say that Manikgonj district name has been established by name of Manik Shah who was a saint. Again some people assume that manikgonj name has been established by the name of dangerous Pathan Sarder Manik Dhali. And some people has idea as per the name of the last lord Nawab Sirajdoullas traitor Manik Chand name of Manikgonj was originated
